Thieves' Candles Made From Organs

Post by Karen on Fri 14 May 2010 - 1:12

Notices From Abroad.

In response to the killings, the London Correspondent of the Wiener Standard lemuat his paper any information, which he had received from a member of the Austrian Privy Council, Dr. Blech. This information is most strange. In several of the German penal laws from the 17th and 18th centuries as well as in newer laws establish criminal punishment for the maiming of female corpses to obtain the internal organs to construct the so-called thieves' candles. According to an older ritual, which is still found in many parts of Germany, shaping such lights causes the victims to falls into a deep sleep, so that people can easily become victims of thieves and robbers. There is a whole literature on these lights. They are mentioned in "Das Deutsche Ave Lallements Gaunerthum" (1858), in Lofflers, "Die Justiz," etc. Put to death in 1810 in Magdeburg as a dangerous robber, Theodore Unger, and over his steering wheel came once a few things up on sleep lights. It was informed namely, that a band of thieves were busy with the manufacturing of them. The mentioned Ritual Cancellation which was ruled out in 1875 in Galicia, is shown by the criminal element in the city of Biala. It was found when one woman was found mutilated in the same manner as in the recent atrocities in Whitechapel. During the trial, the Prosecutor-General suggested that the thieves in the area firmly believed in the wonderful power of such sleep-lights. In the Code Therese Chap. XXII, there is a section, which deals with the mentioned crime. Jack the Ripper, who before the recent murder in London, told the police that he would continue his dreadful work, seems to have now turned up in Belfast, where he sent to a Journal a despatch of containment, that next Saturday he would begin his work in Belfast, because London had now become too hot for him. Last Thursday the police arrested a suspect in Belfast, who possessed a long knife and three razors. He refused to give information about who he was. One of the razors was ground with blood. The head of the detective police detachment in Paris, Mr. Goron, has received a letter from a disciple of Jack the Ripper, dated in Brest. Thence he informed that Paris will soon become the scene of similar bloody deeds as in London.
