Bloody Handkerchief Found In Forest

Post by Karen on Tue 30 Mar 2010 - 10:16

The Dutch police have commenced fresh searches of the bodies of the two women missing in connection with the De Jong mystery. Over 300 soldiers volunteered. The heath of Blaricum and Naarden was traversed. In the Naarden Forest, on the night of August 31, moaning is said to have been heard. Although no bodies have been found, a handkerchief saturated with blood and hidden in the sand was discovered by the soldiers. The spot where this article has been found was closely examined, but nothing further has come to light, except the button of a lady's mantle, which corresponds with those on the mantle worn by Miss Schmitz. Later a still larger force of searchers commenced operations, as ladies' clothing, partly torn up, has been found in the vicinity by a laborer. With regard to Miss Juett's body, dragging operations have been commenced in the Rhine between Arnheim and Wageningen.
