Man Pulls Knife On Police

Post by Karen on Mon 22 Mar 2010 - 23:07

To date London has very different opinions, as to what extent the attempted murder committed two days ago in George Street, should be regarded as the work of the same crimes in the previous woman murders committed in Whitechapel and Spitalfields. The police force itself is silent about the case, but it is said that the owner of the inn in Dorset Street, where the last murder was committed, had two days ago received a postcard, where Jack the Ripper announced that his next victim would fall next Wednesday. On the other hand, says the woman, whose wounds are not dangerous, that the person who tried to murder her, has been a professional saddlemaker for twelve months. This is confirmation that this assassination is completely by itself. The police have enough evidence at all events and trust so that they at least will soon be able to detect this killer. Yesterday morning in the East End was arrested one other person whose conduct gave reason for suspicion. The man walked with a woman in an alley of Spitalfields. Suddenly the woman shouted for help and put the man on a chase. Some detectives, who were in the vicinity, caught him and took him in afterwards. The man pulled a knife and defended himself stubbornly, but finally he was overpowered and the neighboring police agency charged him. The subject of this detention has caused the inhabitants of the notorious district to have been widely discussed. The Parisian police will now get involved with the case. Mr. Goron, head of detectives in Paris, had one of his subordinates, the Brigadier Jeaume, sent to London, to meet the British police in order to assist its investigations. A murder committed in Mont Rouge some time ago, has led to this decision. They found there the mutilated corpse of a woman. Of the murderer there was no other trace than a few shreds of his clothes, which are coming off of English. Mr. Goron has now raised the suspicion that this murder and the Whitechapel murders may be related and believes that the English police department to prove it and to send for the sergeant, who led the investigation at the time.
