Sir George Compton Archibald Arthur, 3rd Bt.
b. 30 April 1860, d. 14 January 1946

Sir George Compton Archibald Arthur, 3rd Bt. was born on 30 April 1860. He was the son of Colonel Sir Frederick Leopold Arthur, 2nd Bt. and Lady Elizabeth Hay-Drummond. He married Kate Harriet Brandon, daughter of Horatio Brandon, on 11 August 1898. He died on 14 January 1946 at age 85, without issue.
Sir George Compton Archibald Arthur, 3rd Bt. succeeded to the title of 3rd Baronet Arthur, of Upper Canada [U.K., 1841] on 1 June 1878. He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the service of the 2nd Life Guards. He fought in the Egypt Campaign in 1882. He fought in the Nile Expedition between 1884 and 1885. He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the service of the Hertfordshire Imperial Yeomanry. He gained the rank of Honorary Captain. He fought in the Boer War between 1900 and 1901. He was invested as a Member, Royal Victorian Order (M.V.O.) in 1909. He fought in the First World War. He was Personal Private Secretary to the Secretary of State, War between 1914 and 1916. He was invested as a Fellow, Royal Society of Literature (F.R.S.L.).
