The Spitalfields Panic

Post by Karen on Mon 1 Aug 2011 - 5:32

Mr. Wynne E. Baxter, the Coroner for the Eastern Division of Middlesex, resumed the inquiry this (Friday) morning into the panic at the Hebrew Dramatic Club, which occurred on the night of Tuesday, the 18th January, at Princes-street, Spitalfields, by which 17 persons lost their life. The Coroner delivered a carefully prepared summing up, prefacing his remarks with an expression of thanks to the Shoreditch Vestry for the use of their mortuary and their convenient hall as a coroner's court. The verdict of the jury was "Accidental death."
