A Child Killed By Its Brother

Post by Karen on Thu 28 Jul 2011 - 23:07

YESTERDAY'S INQUESTS.
A CHILD KILLED BY ITS BROTHER.

Yesterday Mr. Baxter held an inquiry at the Vestry hall, St. George's-in-the-East, respecting the death of George Stephenson, aged eight weeks, the son of a cooper living at 8, Bewlar-street, Cable-street. The mother stated that on Wednesday afternoon she put the deceased to bed in good health. Later on she sent her little boy to take two pillows into the bedroom. She told him to put them on the children's bed, but when she entered the room she found both pillows lying across the deceased's face. She removed them at once, but the child was quite dead. Dr. Kay, 310, Commercial-road, deposed to being called to see the deceased. Life was extinct, and had been so some time. Death was due to suffocation. A verdict of "Accidental death" was returned.
