Fatally Scalded With a Pot of Tea

Post by Karen on Thu 28 Jul 2011 - 9:19

FATALLY SCALDED WITH A POT OF TEA.

At the London hospital, yesterday, Mr. Wynne E. Baxter held an inquest on the body of Annie Forster, aged three years and three months, whose parents reside at 77, Norbey-street, Limehouse. Louisa Forster, the mother, stated that on Saturday afternoon last she was preparing her husband's tea, when the deceased caught hold of the teapot and pulled it over, the contents going into her lap. Dr. Harvey was sent for and advised its removal to the hospital; but witness, who had previously had two children die there, refused to let it go at the time. The scalds were attended to at home, but the child gradually got worse, and on the Tuesday she allowed her to be taken to the hospital, where she died the following day. Dr. Daniells, house surgeon, said death was due to exhaustion, consequent on the scalds. A verdict of "Accidental death" was returned.
