Dr. Gordon Brown Perplexed

Post by Karen on Sat 23 Jul 2011 - 23:20

At the City Coroner's Court, on Wednesday, Dr. F.J. Waldo resumed his inquiry into the death of Herbert Richard Robinson, aged 35, for 13 years a member of the City Police force, lately residing in quarters at Moor-lane.
Dr. Frederic Warmac, toxicologist, who since the adjournment had made an analysis, said there was no evidence of any mineral or irritant poison, and he concluded that death was due to natural causes.
The Coroner: You don't find any poison? - There are certainly no traces of poison.
Dr. E. Musgrave Woodman said that in the absence of any evidence of poisoning he knew of no natural causes which would account for such a death. The immediate cause of death was gastro-enteritis.
Dr. Warmac, recalled, agreed with this view, but was unable to say how the disease originated. There was no suggestion of ptomaine poisoning.
Dr. Gordon Brown said he had never seen a case like it, and was unable to explain its origin.
A verdict of "Death from natural causes" was returned.
