A Remarkable Police Record

Post by Karen on Tue 29 Mar 2011 - 11:42

Jubilee Records.

My father joined the Metropolitan Police in 1882.
He served at the Jubilee and Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria, for which he received the medal and bar; also at the Coronations of King Edward VII and King George V - for which he received medals.
He did duty during the Trafalgar-square riots, Fenian outrages, Jack the Ripper murders, the long engineers' strike, the big dock strike, and during the Great War.
He is still active, and would have served at the coming Silver Jubilee had his services been required.
The above is spread over half a century. Is this a record? SUSSEX.
