Post Office Robbery Sept. 9

Post by Karen on Mon 25 Oct 2010 - 4:15

This is very eerie, as I now have found that the post-office in West Hampstead was burgled the day after Annie Chapman's murder.

On Sunday night, between ten and eleven o'clock the Post Office at Fortune Green, Hampstead, was burglariously entered, and postal orders, stamps, and money to the value of 120 pounds was stolen. It is stated that the person in charge of the office had occasion to leave for about half-an-hour, and on his return the place was found in the greatest confusion. It is supposed that the burglars effected an entrance at the back of the premises, where some fastenings were found to have been forced. The thieves got clear away with their booty, and up to the present no clue has been obtained.
