Suspect Named Bruckman

Post by Karen on Mon 18 Oct 2010 - 1:51

If Police Inspector Byrnes has captured Jack-the-Ripper it will be another feather in his cap. He is becoming the man criminals have most to fear. Lately he has been under fire for his attack on the race tracks. Racing men are savage with the Inspector, and threaten all manner of revelations; but they find him a hard nut to crack. The supposed Jack-the-Ripper is thus described: - "A man named Bruckman has been arrested at Jersey City, on suspicion of being the murderer of the woman Carrie Brown. Bruckman is a cattleman on board ships plying between England and New York. He arrived by the Spain on the 10th April. He is a native of Morocco, and answers the description of the murderer tolerably well. Nothing but suspicion exists against him yet, and he manifests no anxiety."

THE NEW YORK MURDER.

A man named Bruckman has been arrested at Jersey City, on suspicion of being the murderer of the woman Carrie Brown in a New York lodging-house. Bruckman is a cattleman on board ships plying between England and New York. He arrived by the Spain, on the 10th inst. He is a native of Morocco, and answers the description of the murderer tolerably well. Nothing but suspicion exists against him yet (says the New York Correspondent of the Standard), and he manifests no anxiety.
