Contagion Of Crime

Post by Karen on Tue 28 Sep 2010 - 4:51

It has often been remarked that "crime is contagious."
"Jack the Ripper" has taken a vacation from his Whitechapel crimes, but horrible and mysterious murders seem to be epidemic in other parts of England. Two boys were found murdered and mutilated near Bradford the other day, and although it was probably not the work of "Jack the Ripper," it must have been done with a fiendish coolness much like that which marked the Whitechapel crimes.
It is an interesting question whether the publication of the details of horrid crimes does not sometimes excite murderous propensities and lead to butcheries which would not otherwise have been committed.
