Another Inebriated Confession

Post by Karen on Mon 27 Sep 2010 - 21:43

The Whitechapel rumours appear to have disturbed the mental equilibrium of a good many people. Last week, a man entered a coffee shop in Kilburn Lane, and commenced talking to the proprietor in an incoherent style about recent tragedies, saying he knew all about it, and produced what appeared to be a long bladed knife.

The police were at once put on his track. Police constable Brand doubtless with the prospects of a fortune and retirement nerving him to his task quickly had the suspected one in custody. All that was found upon him was a bright steel rule, while further examination shewed that his self-accusation was but the harmless verbosity of an inebriate.

Police constable Brand's physical mercury must have had a further descent when it was ascertained that the man was native of Kilburn, and had lived at a local address for some time.
